Every office has walls, so it’s no surprise that they play a key role in designing any space. With so many different routes you can take, it can be hard to figure out what will work best for your workplace.

We’re here to help with a few tips for designing office walls:

Represent Yourself

When we see walls, we see blank canvases. This makes them perfect for representing your company’s brand or adding personality to your space. Some of our favorite ways to design walls are:

  • Custom artwork of your company’s logo.
  • Motivational quotes.
  • Low-maintenance plants like moss.
  • Acoustic tiles.
  • Different textures (paint, exposed brick, tile, etc.).

Glass Walls

A recent study at Cornell showed workers exposed to natural light experienced an 84 percent drop in issues such as headaches, eyestrain, and blurred vision. Because those symptoms can lead to increased fatigue, workers exposed to less natural light were more susceptible to other health issues. Our designers accomplish this with the use of glass wall systems.

Decorative Partitions

Want to separate a room without building an entire wall? Consider adding partitions or dividers to your office. They are an effective, affordable way to:

  • Add privacy anywhere (such as a huddle space or workstation).
  • Reduce noise.
  • Incorporate more color into the space.

Wallpaper & Wallcovering

For many businesses, designing office walls means experimenting with different wallpaper, wallcoverings, or paint colors on accent walls. Doing this can help add a touch of style and personality to your space. But be careful not to overdo it! Remember this rule:

  • 60% of the space should be the dominant color
  • 30% should be the secondary color
  • 10% should be an accent color

So, when choosing a color or covering for your office, pick something that’s different from the 60% and 30% colors to really make it pop.
